30.0 Have You Ever Observed The Meaning Of Someone's Smile?

I think most of the written posts consist of funny incidents that happened. So, I think those articles captured some stories belong to this topic. However, I wanted to take this as a separate topic to highlight observations of a smile. 

By any chance did you try to understand the meaning of your closest loved ones smile? If not, you have missed them and, I think that is one best way to understand them. Here I wanted to share some observations I had. Sometime, you may have similar experiences.

 

When someone smiles with us, can you identify whether his/her smile is an honest one or not? Do you think that they smiled with you honestly? I think now we are not living in a society where we can believe someone who smiles with us pleasantly. It is not a measurement to judge them as good fellows. 

There was a project manager in one office, I went to. Always he had a big smile on his face. He smiled attractively with our team also and, made the worst situation for all of us. Most of the time, he talked against our team with top management in every meeting. Those days, we were an outsourced team and worked for them.

Therefore, he did not want to see the success of our team and, did not support us. Even though it was a decision of his top management, he did not agree with them. Those days I thought about his behavior, and I could not figure out that why did he smile with us so friendly while attacking us. He could do the same thing without his fake smile as we did not directly deal with him. But he was the one who came to our table and, entertained by telling jokes. He did not want to play such a drama. Why did he put an effort into such things? Those were certain things that came to my mind, though I fed up with their workload. I would like you to come up with your feedback if you have any idea about this. It was a hectic period of my career. Most of us had to suffer because of the attitude issues they had with others.

We can categorize smiles into different categories. Some people can smile with us while others can laugh for us. Sometimes you may notice a smile that comes from the one corner of the mouth. One of my friends' mother used that smile for me. Still, I could not imagine the reason behind that silly smile. I did not see how other people laugh at me. However, I have been seeing how others laughed at my friends when they were not around them. The language that they have used to call them also very cheap. One day I blamed such a crowd and, I asked them to point out the discussed things in front of my friend.

  

Some people smile with selected people. Whether they are showing their teeth or not also depend on their selection criteria. As well as the length of the smile also depends on their own criteria. Actually, I don't know how they have defined and, did it for humans. There was such one girl in an office I worked in. She gave a fade smile without showing her teeth to some people and, I was also in that group. So, I also had to smile very carefully without showing my teeth. Though now those incidents gave a smile for me, those days she was in my blacklist. Lol...

As well as I have noticed that certain people did not like to see the smiley faces of others️. One day when one of my office colleagues was laughing, a senior one gave a devil look. I could not exactly understand what kind of feeling he had in his eyes. I think it was a combination of unpleasantness and jealousy. If she laughed in the office, then we can say that there was a disciplinary issue. But, it happened in an outing. However, I know that people cannot bear up his/her enemies' smile. I think, in that situation, they felt jealous of them. Recently I saw a similar Facebook post shared by one of my friends.

During my lifetime, there were a few people who did not smile with us at all though we smiled with them. My father is such a one person. Especially when we were discussing a serious topic. I think he wanted to emphasize his discussion as an important one by hiding his smile. Similarly, there was one boss in my previous office. He also did not smile with me though I did. At that time, I thought that it was a skill for both of us. So, I did not forget to discuss the things with a smile, while he was in serious mode.

As I pointed out in the last post, the main important observation was the difference between a smile and eye expressions. Some of them communicated their happiness via a wide smile. But their eyes told a different story and, it did not match with their smile. There was a smile on their eyes, though they did not have a smile on their faces when we faced for pathetic situations. 

However, I felt happy for both these situations as it helped me to identify the people. At those times, my heart smiled with my ego. Most of the times, I believe that the eye expression is correct. Though I pointed out, these things to you, I know that the majority of you have similar observations and experiences. If not, it's a good habit to practice a little bit. 

As I do not want an effort for social observations, I would like to see the smile of kids. That is one thing which makes me happy and, it gave pleasure to me. I think a kid can offer us an honest smile and, always their glittering eyes add value to their smile. I personally like Deepika Padukone, Hindi actress's smile. It is a very bright smile and, it’s a pleasure to see her smile. As well as I love the smile of Princess Diana. I think her smile communicates the innocence side of her soul. 

Anyway, everybody is beautiful and pleasant when they have smiley faces. Additionally, I would like the smile of a few friends of mine as well. I want to tell them. So, they will try to keep a smile on their faces all the time. I think we can enjoy the smile of someone who has a few teeth even if it is an honest one.

29.0 Smile When You Have Teeth, My Dear Friends...

Though I started writing about this topic still, I don't know whether I have enough things to write. However, I wanted to take this topic for my blog to tell you the discrepancies I have noticed in between a smile and eye expressions of people. During my lifetime, I have been seeing that observation many times. By the way, I do not wish to highlight it first and, I think that you will focus on it more than the other things that I shared with you here. 

Actually, all of us would love to live with laughter and, take it into part of our life. Because a smile always implies the happiness of someone's life. There may be people who have a smile on their faces though they have been bearing up lots of problems. Actually, it is a pleasure to see such people with smiling faces. They are strong enough to hide their tears via a wide smile. You analyze the story of someone and, see the hurdles they have. You will identify how strong the personality they have.

I believe that the person who is reading this post also has such an amazing strong personality. If so, I love you, my dear buddy. I ask you to stay ahead in your life till the last moment. As soon as when I was writing these few lines, a few teardrops dragged at the end of the eyes. I am very emotional when I am imagining you all my friends. Sometimes, I have thought of such things, but I'm sharing these things as a written article first time.

At the very beginning of this write-up, I would request you to smile when you have teeth. Once you lose your teeth, there will be sound like 'Hoh Hoh Hoh... and, at that time majority do not want to see your smile. They won't wait to see your smiley face. Lol… As you know, only we can smile in this world and, I think it's a gift given by mother nature. I hope there is a lovely smile on your face now. Keep it with you. It's your own identity.

In my school life, there were famous friends because of their smiles. One of them was an elder sister and, everyone called her 'Laughing girl. The other one was a close friend of mine, and everyone said that she was laughing because of the abnormal food she ate. Those days, I love their companion as I could laugh with them. In addition to them, most of my friends loved my laughter as well. I got to know via the notes they put in my autograph when we all are leaving school. They did not forget to highlight how did I laugh by rotating and bending my entire body. That's how I came to know about it️. 

I had to face for punishments also during my school time because of laughter. However, I could not avoid it though they punished me. When all the friends were got together, there was a burst of laughter and, it was a never-ending one. I think it's common for anyone at that age. I hope you also have similar memories.

Those days, I could not control laughter in serious situations, and that was the hardest thing I ever had. That's why my mother blamed me a lot. When I was trying to control it, it was very inconvenient for me, and my cheeks were going to explode. There was a pain in my throat and I could not breathe properly. So, I did not like to face such situations, as it was very uncomfortable for me also. When there was a gathering with friends or cousins, we laughed like crazy idiots. 

In our school days, all of us had a similar mindset, I think. One day, I went to a funeral with my cousins and, one of the family members of the funeral house came to welcome us. At that time, my cousin smiled with him joyfully and, it was not suitable for that occasion. All of us noticed her foolish action and our elders got angry with her. However, now I feel like we did not have good discipline and, most often my mother said the same. Still, I could not understand the behavior we had in those days.

One day I did a crazy thing with one of my cousin sisters. At that time, we were in our grandmother’s home, and it was a family gathering. We two in the yard and, our grannies house situated near the main road. We smiled with people on the road by showing different actions. We did not do it for people who were walking. So, we selected some people who were going by cars and vans. I think all of them would think about us as mentally sick idiots. Most of them confused, and they did not smile back with us. They just looked at us until they could not see us. We two also waved our hands until they passed a few miles. A very few young guys smiled back with us and, our actions made them laugh. However, we enjoyed ourselves a lot.

This incident happened in my first computer class. I went to that class after the advanced level examination. At that time, I did not have a computer even and, it was the first deal with IT. Lol... Though everybody was well disciplined during the lectures, our usual habits came out in the computer labs. There was something for us to laugh. My friend's condition was worse than mine. Always I had asked my friend to behave well. 

I could not manage my laugh when she was behaving like a crazy one. One day one of the instructors in the lab warned both of us saying that they have medicine to stop our laugh. Though I embarrassed my friend laughed by ignoring his warning. So, he asked my friend to move, to another seat which was in another row. The funny thing was he asked her to sit near her boyfriend. Finally, it made all of us laugh and he warned the entire class. Those days we did not have general computer knowledge even. One day there was a practical computer exam and both of us had zero marks. That was the only zero mark I got for my entire education history. 

We two could not realize how did we get zero for that exam. I was embarrassed at seeing the zero, in front of our names on the Notice Board. But my friend said that it was an unforgettable situation to celebrate. Again, it made me laugh, and that was another fun day we had in that computer class.

28.0 Amazing Trips. A Gift For Nature Lovers!

Most of the office trips ended up with tiredness or missing some events as always there were a few guys to mess it up. Some people laugh alone. The same thing is happening to me also now when remembering them. 

Some of them slept without eating even after having a few shots. They could sleep at home. That was our thought. But some of them drunk well and, behaved as nothing has happened. Their absorption level was high, I think. Some of them drunk well and, sat on somewhere for the entire day. They did not talk much and looked like cakes kept on the table. 

Some of them behaved like nut cases, and there was no end of the crazy things they did. Some of them stayed in the pool like dead fish. They did not come out. Some people sang songs. Some of them advised others and, that was the craziest thing I ever have seen. They gave me all the advice for teetotalers and, that was the funniest thing. It's like a forest where there were different animals. Basically, that is the most appropriate description that I could give for the explanation. So, we enjoyed their diversification from the events we participated in. The way that they have behaved was memorable and funny.

One day a few drunk guys went to the changing room and, they said that they can come quickly to play cricket once they ready. At that time all of us started to play cricket and, those few also taken into two teams. So, we were playing cricket for an hour. But they did not come. 

Though it was a question for everyone, no one went to visit them as the ground was a bit far away from the hotel. They did not answer their phones, and even some of them kept their phones in the ground's hut. After a few hours, they came and, everyone asked what happened to them. Then they said that they could not come out as the door get locked. The key was with some other guy. So, they came out via a window. So, we asked, why did not you call someone here. One drunk guy said that 'We came to this journey to enjoy. So, we should trouble nobody. Nobody. Normally he was the one who messed up everything in every trip and played the joker's role. So, it was the funniest thing we heard on that day and, we could remind and laugh for a couple of days.

At the end of the trips, the most terrible job done by the teetotalers and, they had to be the drivers of non-teetotalers. They could not avoid their request as friends and, somehow, they bore it up for the sake of friendship. However, they did not forget to blame them. But it's also useless, as most of them were not conscious. But they took their burden and, dropped them at home. When some parents did not accept their sons, they had to bring them to the bed even. So, in those cases, they had to listen to their parents also without doing anything wrong.

If we went trips on Sunday, some non-teetotalers did not come to work while some people came in the early morning as usual though they drunk like nothing. It was a surprise for me to see them in their chairs when I was getting late to go to the office those times. Then they said that I'm getting late without a reason and, laughed at me.

Apart from these trips, there is another memorable trip and, I wanted to go to 'Shripaadaya (Adam's Peak). As you know, it's a mountain️. So, you should be in good health to go there. However, I suffered from some grannies when walking. Lol... As this was not an easy trip, I could not find out people to go there. Therefore, I was waiting to go there for a very long period. 

I went there only one time in my childhood. My parents used to say that I completed the entire journey without other's support. They said that I did not ask for their help and, hiked peacefully. They were happy for me. My sister did not walk at all. My father and one of his friends carried her like a sack. However, I troubled them when sleeping in the night because of the climate. As per them, that was the only trouble I made during that journey. However, once I came home, I asked for rice to eat by rejecting all the other food. During that two days journey, I could not eat rice properly.

So, even though I was thinking about going on this journey for a long time, I could not find out suitable colleagues because of the difficulty of this journey. My cousins also did not like much as they are not the kind of a hiking gang. Because of this, I could not find someone to go on this journey. Therefore, I informed my interest in this journey to my many friends, and they promised me to take me there once they go. 

So, one day my friend told me that his uncle's family is getting ready to go to 'Shriipaadaya. Our parents and these crowds have known each other well. So, I was happy about her idea and, I wanted to make it somehow. So, I said to my father that my friend is also joining with this journey though she was not. Meantime, I asked one of my younger cousin brothers to also come with me. Though he liked to go there, later on, he could not make it because of his official schedule. However, I did not inform my father, and he thought that both my friend and brother are coming with me.

So, once everything was ready to go, I said to my father that my cousin brother is not coming with me. As soon as possible he asked me to take a phone call with him. However, my brother could manage it without messing it up. But he did not get upset as he thought that my friend was there. Finally, I could leave home without trouble and, he came along with me to drop me. At that time, he asked that 'Where is your friend? Why did not she come here yet? He got angry with me once I told the actual situation. At that time, he asked me to take a phone call to my friend. But I did not call her and, said that her phone was not working. At that time, I could not look at my father's face as it had a devil look. So, he was scolding me and, it did not end until my friend's uncle came. Till then, he blamed me and, asked me to go back home. However, I did not agree with him and, I convinced that how did I make the arrangements to go to this long-awaited journey. But it was not a valid reason for him and, he was in his view.

Unfortunately, that uncle's family did not come on time and, I had to wait for about one hour. During that idling time, I had to listen to my father and, that one hour was long like one day. Meantime, a van stopped there to pick their friends, and they were also going to 'Shriipaadaya. There was a gang of young boys and, they were singing at that time.  

They put on sounds in high volume and, it was annoying music. I don't know how did they enjoy that music. At that time, my father suddenly thought that they stopped to pick me and, they were the people that I was going with. So, I corrected him soon and, I said that they will be here within the next ten minutes. At that time also, he asked me to go home. So, again and again, I had to remind my objective of this journey. For about another half an hour they came finally and, uncle got down from the van. Then he spoke to my father, and he introduced the other people. The entire crowd was consisting of aunties and a few young sisters with one young boy. Then only there was a smile on my father's face, and he was happy about the crowd. But he did not look at me and, asked those two young sisters to look after me. Lol...

However, my entire nose got blocked due to the climate before we reached there even. It was cold like nothing, and I immediately took some medicine to avoid the worst case. At that time, I remembered that my father warned me the same. He said to me that the climate was not good for my health. So, for those two days, my younger sister was the communication channel as my parents did not phone me. My younger sister contacted me and, communicated my details to parents. They were blaming for me with her as well. So, she said that her ears were also painful with my journey as she had to listen for many kinds of stuff because of me. So, I asked her to listen to whatever they said without pointing out my more mistakes.

However, finally, I could come back home without any trouble after a very tiring journey. My legs were painful like nothing, and I could not sleep well because of that pain. I was laying in the bed for a few days and, nobody asked about my pain even. They did not ask about my journey as well, though I explained some incidents with them. They did not react. So, as it was like talking to myself, I stopped telling about my journey with them. After a few days, I tried to show the photographs I had taken, but they did not want to see them. However, I was happy about my journey and, the photos I captured.

We went on that trip in April, a few days before Sinhala and Tamil new year. Therefore, it was not a crowded place and, there was a clean environment. I could capture that pure serenity. That environment was really suitable for meditation. In certain areas, there was no disturbance from a bird even. So, many times I asked my gang to go ahead and, waited in some places for a while. 

I just watched the environment and did nothing. Sometimes I was like an individual who did not come with any when staying such places alone. I did not take photos even. I just wanted to be a part of that nature. I could say that my mind relaxed by forgetting the pains I had in my legs. As I went that journey after a rush in my office work, it gave me great relief. If you are not a Sri Lankan, I would like to suggest you visit 'Shriipaadaya (Adam's Peak) in April before our new year days 13th and 14th. You can enjoy the environment and, you can see the real beauty of our country. 

 

A Buddhist Thero

Meantime, I thought that nature does not need any human though we need. But I think humans won't think about them as a part of the environment. I had such a thought of looking at garbage thrown away without keeping in proper places. I could not understand that how did they put the garbage in such clean places. There were very few people who cared about the environment. I saw they kept their garbage in their own garbage bags when there were no suitable places to put them.

At this moment also, some forest destruction is going on. ‘Wipaththu’ is such a reserve. So, in this situation, some people and communities raised against this forest destruction. They talked to others via social media and, conducted some protestations in their own areas. Some of them planted some trees and, distributed among the others.

I would like to mention something about the environment to you all my friends as I have pointed out some pathetic side of deforestation in our country️. This is a kind and genuine request. Please do think and care about your environment as per your own child. Please do not ever release harmful things to the environment. I know that we can make it if each of us could save our own territories without removing trees, protecting them and planting more. Teach kids to love the environment. Especially we should bring that message to our kids as they are the future. As per my knowledge, the good or bad things captured in childhood cannot be changed easily. So, as adults, it's always our responsibility to build a generation that loves nature.

27.0 Trips! How To Manage Outings With Idiots

When I was getting ready to go on a trip which has arranged by our photography class, both my father and grandmother saw a nightmare. They did not like about that excursion. They worried about my security. They thought that I would go to every nook and corner to take photographs, and it made them scared. 

However, it was an essential excursion for me. So, I thought to go there though they saw some nightmares. The nightmare that my grandmother saw was a crazy one and, actually, it could bring a little excitement. On the following day, she came to my room and, asked that 'do you really want to go on this trip? I saw a nightmare. 

You wore a red color saree and, the whole saree was red. You wore some gold Jewelers as well. This is not a good dream. So, don't go out today'. I listened to her carefully and, asked her not to worry about myself. I said that I knew her love for me and consoled her. As she came to this point, I would like to add a note about her. I think, during our lifetime grannies are the angels who sent from heaven to love us. The love and caring they brought to us cannot be equalized to other's love expect our parents. For this moment, my all grannies are passed away. I missed their love and kindness.

I went on some trips with my cousins as well and, we enjoyed it a lot. One day we went to 'World's End'. As you know some of the people fallen down and died when there was mist. As well as some of them fall down when they were trying to take photographs carelessly. So, my parents scared about this location, though they gave permission. 

They asked me to keep the distance and, reminded me from time to time. When I was going there also, both of them called and reminded me️. They did it continuously until they could not reach me because of signal issues. However, they asked me to call them once I left the 'World's End'. But I could not do that because of the signal issue. So, once it is available, there were about ten to twelve miscalls alerts. 

Before that, the driver said that he cannot bring us there, according to the condition of Van. He said that we should use an off-road vehicle to go there. However, nobody wanted to miss that opportunity and, all of us wanted to go there. So, all of us decided to walk an extra few miles. But, our aunts and uncles did not allow us to do. They said that it was not an easy thing to do as we thought. However, the driver decided to go and, we did not want to go the extra mile. As usual, we started hiking as heroes and, ended up as zombies. All of us were tired like nothing. I could not bend my knees. So, I said I would not hike for the next two years and, at that time I did not want to walk at all. By any chance, if we idiots walk those extra miles also, we would die on the way.

I do not have much to say about the school trips as I could go a very few. I have some more to tell about trips which I went to when I was doing a job. I have worked in more than one office. They have arranged trips frequently. Those days, my parents did not involve the decisions I made for the participation of trips. However, they did not like it. Lol... 

They were scared to let me go with others without them though I was an adult. Sometimes my friends laughed at me. However, my parents did not worry about the small events I went with my office colleagues as those outings took about two to three hours. My father asked me to take care of the drinks. Because he knew that some drinkers mix alcohol with soft drinks. However, I never faced such an incident and, our office colleagues never did that. They took care of the girls when we went for outings and trips. I should offer my respect to all the boys who were being with us like brothers those days.

There was a horrible outing and, it was a beach party️. It was a party organized as the year-end party. Everyone was in a happy mood to welcome the new year. So, most of the office friends participated in this outing. Our organizing team arranged many events there. There was an opportunity for drinkers as well, and they could drink as much as they wish. 

Therefore, only girls and boys who came with their wives participated in the events. Others enjoyed their year-end celebrations with bottles and snacks. Meanwhile, some of the drinkers participated in the event games as well. They wanted to enjoy both.

At that time, I thought that it would be better if they could stay aside with their drinks without coming to the games we played. So, when I was doing a group activity, there was such one guy in that group. He wanted to drink and play the game. So, from time to time he went to fill his glass and, participated in the group activity. Actually, he was a headache for everyone in the group as we had to wait for him once he went to take drinks for his empty glass. However, we had to bear up his behavior as he said that it was very much essential for him to participate in the game. 

So, by being within the same group, we had to solve a puzzle and, the group had split into other small groups. There were about four members in that small group and, unfortunately, that guy was in our group. Except for us, it was a pleasure for other group members as they did not want to deal with him anymore. So, when my friend and I were on the job, that boy came in with one beer and cigarette. His both arms occupied and, we got angry about his behavior as he did not have a way to support us. He used one hand, which carried the cigarette to solve the puzzle. So, we had to smoke with him and, he did not care about us, though we told him. He was not conscious to listen to us and the support he gave for puzzles also useless.

So, at the time of finishing the game, we also covered by cigarette smell. Apart from the egg smell, that smell is the most unpleasant smell that I could not bear up. So, at that time I had a severe headache as well. My friend cursed him and, she worried about his wife. She said that his wife was a poor one to bear up his bad smells. After that, both of us wanted to go home quickly. However, our transport arranged at a specific time as that beach was a bit far away from Colombo. So, we had to wait.

Then the best thing happened when we were getting ready to go home. We saw that one guy was vomiting because of the heavy drinks he had. He came from a corner by wiping his mouth to get the gift, when all of were exchanging the secret Santa gifts. He removed the wrapping paper and opened the gift. 

Nobody knew that it could embarrass others. There were some underwear and, it consists of different colors. He took one by one out and thanked the colleagues who gifted. After a few minutes, he was vomiting by crying. One of our girls went to video that incident. So, it made him angry and, he vomited towards her. Within a few minutes, she covered up with vomit. Then when the transport van came, I went there with one of my friends. Unfortunately, that vomit boy also came with us, and he also used the same van to go home. So, the entire environment had a vomit smell and, it increased my headache. Though I was not well, I had a bath as soon as I went home. It removed some bad smell from my brain, I think. So, that's my first and last beach party.
